The platform in numbers
The context
Every day, many trucks carrying containers enter and leave logistics terminals.
To enter the operational area, every vehicle must be
- Identified
- Checked against bookings
- Authorized to enter or exit
If these operations are done manually
- Slowdowns at the gates
- Logging errors
- Transit history that is hard to reconstruct
That is why the company needed a more automated and reliable system to manage vehicle flow.
The project goal
The goal was to build a platform able to:
- automatically recognize trucks in transit;
- identify the license plate and container code;
- check the information against the data already in the system;
- log every inbound and outbound transit;
- automate gate opening.
The system uses images captured by the cameras to monitor vehicles and store transit data, making it easy to look up later.
The solution
To meet these needs, we designed an integrated platform made up of several components.
When a truck arrives at the gate:
- The cameras detect the vehicle
- The system captures the images
- The software identifies the license plate and container
- The data is matched against bookings
- If the check is successful, the truck enters
The system also logs every transit and saves the images so they can be reviewed later.
Operator interface
Not every case can be handled automatically.
That’s why we also developed a touch interface used by terminal operators. From this monitor they can:
Enter an access code when automatic recognition fails.
Handle emergency situations directly from the monitor.
Check the status of gate transits at any time.
The interface was designed to be simple and fast to use, even in operational settings.
