Three-dimensional model and degrees of curvature
The client
Professor Nicola Mondaini, a renowned andrologist and scholar, wanted an app to help men understand and monitor Peyronie’s disease, a condition that can cause curvature, pain or swelling of the penis.
With a 3D scan from different angles, the app generates a three-dimensional model that shows the curvature and calculates its degrees: this makes it possible to keep track of changes over time and to see the doctor with a complete, measured view of the problem.

Article published in Firenzepost, available at this link.
The challenge
Today, patients rely on manual measurements or subjective observations, which don’t clearly show the curvature and how it changes: it’s hard to tell whether a treatment is working. The app had to:
A reliable measurement of the curvature, without subjective assessments.
An accurate three-dimensional model of the patient’s condition.
Compare previous measurements with current ones.
Useful data for better-informed decisions about the disease.
Sensitive data handled with the highest level of protection.
The technical challenge: bringing 3D scanning to an app anyone can use, without professional equipment.
The development process
A multi-phase process, from the initial analysis to launch, for an app that is easy to use yet accurate in its measurements.
